.MISTER LAVISH! ---- The brunette sighed at the presence of Ariel over his shoulder, as if slightly ashamed the head lines would cause a bubble of anger. Lavi lifted his gaze from the bold letters that blocked out 'WOMAN BEATEN TO DEATH OVER DNA' before him long enough to watch his escort walk away, creating a strangled noise through his nose. Carefully, as if the wad of papers would tear with the slightest discomfort he folded it back into it's issued form, pitching it neatly into the basket at his hip.
"I'm coming!" the mink boy called ahead, forcing enthusiasm back into his speech as he stumbled forward to return to the man's side. Lavi appreciated it, that he'd waited for his body to start moving again, so he gave a smile, more or less to assure himself that such little things shouldn't bother him.
But they rather did. "Ariel?" OOC; I'm so sorry. I've had so much shit to do, ugh.

Ariel watched carefully and patiently as Lavi walked towards him, jerking forward on instinct as the kid half stumbled. Once Lavi had covered the short distance and rejoined him, he turned to keep walking, this time at an incredibly leisurely pace. Hopefully, this would cheer the boy up, being in a place surprisingly full of greenery in the middle of a gigantic city.
Upon hearing his name, he turned his head, eyes widening inquisitively for the moment as he waited for Lavi to speak. Surely it was about the headline, about the woman being beaten to death over her DNA. He had mentally frowned over it, but he was secretive enough about his ability to keep it hidden, and well trained in combat enough to keep people to at least defend himself.
However, in that moment, his mind flashed to Lavi, and he realized that the young brunette was both essentially a child, and a fairly defenseless mink in animal form. That strange instinct to protect swelled up in him again
"Yes?"

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- He let the question hang for a moment, walking contently in the presence of another. The park was nice, and the fresh air made the corners of his lips curl, enthused in the fresh air. "What's your opinion on, well," Lavi knew enough not to say it directly out loud, instead bringing a hand up to move his bangs back into place, nails pricking against his skin. Their pace was nice, almost tender, allowing almost everyone else to walk past them with in moments. "If you don't mind. Because personally," the brunette's voice trailed off, as if the sound of his words would break the delicate fabric of air, "p-personally, I think they're all a bunch of hypocrites, they live just like us..."
The mink boy tilted his head to the side, rubbing at his cheek with his shoulder. If his pajamas had been graced with pockets, he'd of had a thumb in each, sheepish as he could look. Feeling a bit pathetic suddenly, Lavi laughed, a little weaker than his usual hearty pounding. OOC;

"People hate what's different. We're different" Ariel sighed, "They live just like us, true. But some of us are pretty dangerous, right?"
He walked for a moment in silence. Ariel wasn't very good with words, so he was having a little difficulty putting his sentiments into words. He was well read, certainly, but he never felt whatever he had to say was good enough.
Ariel sighed reaching out and patting Lavi gently on the head. It was a difficult move, but he found the effort to make the physical gesture. It felt slightly okay, he admitted to himself. He hoped the attempt would at least slightly cheer up the kid. He didn't usually enjoy touching people, especially due to his work as a stripper, where he usually punched whoever touch him (on stage or after he left).
"Besides, they won't get you while I'm around." He offered a half smile, not really sure as to how to cheer people up. "Why...don't...we...go...get...ice...cream?"

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- The boy shook his head 'no', in more amusement of the notion than anything. "I just find that so hard to believe, being dangerous..." He gave Ariel a look, that seemed to pretty much sum up everything behind gray eyes. Innocence that followed see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, do no evil. Lavi appreciated his values, but it backfired on him so much to see them shattered. To see someone not get treated like a proper being, in it's simplicity.
He almost jumped at the weight on his head, pressing down messy chocolate locks (he'd forgotten to really get ready this morning, hadn't he?) to his skull. The mink boy blinked, teeth flashing as gave an exclamation of sound, mostly in pure joy. Coming from him, he knew it meant a lot. "I don't doubt that," the teenager told him, kicking his feet out a little as they walked. If the walk home through the station hadn't proven anything, everything else would have. His face visibly perked.
"Ice cream?" the mink boy cooed loudly, almost all disgruntled vibes floating away on the question. "Sure!" His hands pumped at his sides for a moment, swinging with each step as if the action was the motor making him move. "But, I don't have my wallet on me, Ariel," the brunette fretted, a pout far from the frown he'd been holding moments before. His arms broke rhythm to pat at his thighs, lips twisting further. "It's in my pants." OOC;

Ariel shrugged in response, figuring Lavi had let his wallet back at the apartment. Seeing as he'd only worn pajama pants, essentially with no pockets, there was no room for a wallet.
"I wouldn't worry about it." He continued walking forward, leading his charge around a particularly windy path until they happened across a little brightly coloured cart. Behind it stood an old-ish man who looked really quite bored with the day. He perked up immediately as the two approached.
"Uh...one scoop of...whatever's low fat. You?" He turned his head, tilting it slightly as he inquired of Lavi which flavour he wanted. With his tattoos, and almost concerned look, he almost appeared to be a motherly feline, fussing over her cub. Naturally, he didn't realize this, but continued to look earnestly at the mink teen. "Anything you want."

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- He mumbled his gratitude, rubbing at his face for a moment, slightly embarrassed he'd forgotten such an essential thing in his excitement to leave Ariel's apartment (not that he didn't want to be there). It was a mixture of that, and still being hung up about the newspaper and the fate of that one woman, despite the man's attempts. "Yeah, alright, I won't."
At the inquiry of his ice cream choice, Lavi clapped his hands together before him, rolling onto his toes. "Jus' Strawberry~" Bright gray eyes watched as he assembled it with ease, a two step process, and the shifter thanked him properly as the cone was transferred over to his hands. He rolled back to flat feet, holding his prize close as he waited a bit impatiently for Ariel, eager to eat it now that it was in his palms. OOC;

"Ten-Fifty." The fairly gruff man basically grunted at them. Ariel's eyes widened at the sound of the price. Nevertheless, he handed over 15 and muttered "Keep the change." The two walked off, Ariel occasionally picking at his ice cream. It wasn't really part of his diet, and the Tiger in him, being Chinese by nature, was very lightly lactose intolerant. He would surely pay for it much later.
"...ice cream good?" he blinked over at Lavi, who he made sure was within arm's reach at all times. "What else you wanna do in Central Park?" He was feeling quite successful in cheering Lavi up, at least until he noticed that Lavi still seemed distraught. "Uh...kiddo...what do you do for fun?"

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi nodded enthusiastically, the movement causing the ice cream to bob before him a bit as he assaulted it. Following beside the larger man, he watched the people around him, the more business like and, putting a smile on his face, the younger that were being hauled along by parents to the numerous different things to stop at. Slightly envious that his home town was nothing compared to how the ones around him were living, it still pained him that maybe being back up by the great lakes was just that safer to live. His head shot up, tilting in Ariel's direction as he sounded.
"I think Ice Skating is out of the question~" he rolled off his lips, giving his cone a nibble before continuing, "Think anyone has any galleries set out? My Dad told me once about the art festivals around here..." Lavi fell away, deciding on working on the last remaining bit of cone in his hands before it turned into a sticky pool of milk and sugar in his palms. "I jus' kinda walk around~ explore!" The Mink's eyes perked as he popped the end of the wafer into his mouth, rubbing his face with the back of his palm. "It ruins the fun when people are telling you about things, 'cuz sometimes I just walk around and think of story for stuff myself, you know?"
Not really minding he wasn't giving a direct answer - pretty much anything was amusing to the boy - his gray eyes settled on watching the passing faces around them. OOC;

"Ice Skating is definitely out of the question" Ariel nodded. He'd never been, and for true, the thought of ice skating somewhat scared him a little. Why? He had no idea. It just didn't seem very fun. "There are a lot of art galleries over in SoHo, but that's a long ways away from here. We'd have to metro again." Ariel had finished his ice cream at a fairly slow pace. Most of it was just mushy slop at the bottom now. He neatly chucked the cone into a passing waste basket as he continued to stroll with his ward.
"I don't, actually." Ariel shrugged "I figure people're doing what they're doing, so there's no need for me to interpret it." He thought for a second, perhaps thinking that he'd answered completely the wrong question. "At an art gallery, I like it when they tell me about a piece, because then I can try and see what the artist saw." Again, he wasn't quite sure he'd answered the question properly, so he settled on his awkward silence, staring almost unblinkingly forward as they walked.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- An amused hum rattled his frame, folding his body to walk shoulder-parallel to the ground, fingers knotted in the small of his lower back as his stretched, taking long strides with his stringy legs. It was mostly so his face was out of Ariel's view. Lavi's smile had crept upwards, large and goofy on his face as he kept gaze trained on the toes of his shoes (his only guide being the man's legs in peripheral view). Of all the things he'd managed to hear from the man, his response made his mind twist - "I don't see want something, someone, for what it plainly is because that's not always the best that they can give. I want to see what they can be because that always reaches the greatest height. Assume it'll only ever be better."
The brunette straightened, arms falling normally at his sides, and his expression turned back into some neutral, the closest Lavi had gotten to looking like a normal, 18 year old male in a long time. "... what if that woman was something spectacular? How could you ever see it if all you could see was exactly that moment? What if in twenty years, she went to cure something horrible?" His tone had fallen quizzical, most of the words spoken for the sake of clearing off his mind, and his being at ease to speak it to the man beside him. The mink boy respected the fellow's shifters opinions, just the way they sounded. Like he knew what he was talking about.
It felt like he was dropping bricks as he walked, and shifting his vision into the green around them, Lavi cracked his small smile that adorned his face in every other mood. OOC;

"Then she goes on to cure something horrible, but that's in twenty years" Ariel shrugged "But what if she goes on to run someone over with her car? What if she gets raped and murdered in an alleyway?" The Tiger shifter continued walking and talking, which was a pleasant change. He was used to walking and glaring, like he had been on a subway, but here he was, with another person, talking. "There's too many what if's. The future is too uncertain. I like to see people as they are, at this very moment. No expectations of what they could be, just a glimpse of who they are." He turned slightly, looking at Lavi "Like you. If I looked at who you could be, or who you were, I never would have spoken to you on the metro. It's because at that moment, who you were, you were smiling, and it turned out you needed a place to stay."

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi chuckled, messing around with his bangs again as he listened. "I can't do that, my brain likes to be a little outside the box," he teased, although understanding the man's point. It seemed considerably solider than his, but the the brunette it seemed as looped as his own thinking. "But what if I was a smiling thief named Russel? A lot of people smile~ I'd be verrryyy convincing~" he gave Ariel a look from the corners of his eyes, as if tempting him to do something about his sudden smartass-ery. "... Although, negativity gets you no where ..."
Returning to his previous state of contemplation, the mink boy attempted to think of something else for them to possibly do. It was a huge city, as the man had stated previously. The first thing that crossed his mind was flying a kite on the gentle breeze, but he was almost positive the shifter beside him had no such thing or any want to participate in the activity.

"You wouldn't steal from me." Ariel stated simply. "I wouldn't have invited you into my home otherwise."
Ariel seemed a bit confused...he was negative, he was simply a staunch realist, as he thought. He didn't hope for the best, nor did he hope for the worst (although he was often quite prepared for it). He continued to stroll through Central Park, then turned to Lavi.
"Think of something to do." He finally spoke "I live here year round, I have all the time in the world to do anything in New York, but you're a guest, think of somewhere you want to go."
