.MISTER LAVISH! ---- He blinked at the thank-you, stilling hoping between steps here and there to maintain pace with the former military man. Lavi let out a small 'eh?' when he tossed away the carton, having only noticed the man was eating, but not that he was going through the food that fast. He personally was a dainty eater, and he let out an astonished gasp, smiling whimsically.
He followed into the station, neatly at his heels as they worked for the tram. The balls of his feet were quite starting to hurt, and he could only smile even wider when Ariel left the seat for him, a bit too exhausted to say anything in response. His bag fell neatly into his lap, and protectively he placed both hands on top of it.
Lavi stayed alert, leaning tensely into the seat, caught between watching the dull flickers of light, and the swaying people that were jostling with the momentum. While his dropping expressions told him in all honesty he was spent for the day, the brunette was aware he wouldn't be able to rest until on his own, nocturnal instincts being brought forth with in him. He clutched at his bag again, relocating his gaze back to his feet as he just listened to the activity around him. OOC; ~

Ariel leaned against the pole next to him, sighing wearily. He'd definitely take a shower when he got home. That was on highest priority. He'd let the kid have his bed; Ariel was not unaccustomed to sleeping on the hardwood floor. Since Lavi was also a shifter,he wouldn't have to worry about being discovered shifted in his sleep.
The kid was tired, obviously, but still somehow managed to keep a strangely cheery and innocent air. Ariel kept his face stoic as he continued to slowly move his gaze around the rickety train; for whatever reason, his current thought was "Must Protect". Where it came from, he was utterly unsure of, but it was undeniable that it was there.
"We're here." He leaned over and nudged the boy on his shoulder. The train hadn't stopped yet, but New York subways were notorious for their quick open and close. "Can you make it a few more blocks?" He was prepared to carry the little guy on his back, piggy-back style if he needed to. He didn't look like he weighed much anyways.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi let the time get away from him, and when Ariel collided with his shoulder, he almost gave a jolt. The warning message of the stop had just popped up, and he caught it with the corner of his eye, blinking away any traces of pending sleep. Apparently he took the route often to judge it that timely, and it made him feel a little more secure.
"Yeah!" he responded sharply, slowly getting to his feet, tugging his luggage along. The brunette balanced carefully as he stretched in the allotted space, calves pressed to the seat behind him. "I can make it, don't worry," the mink boy reassured, tugging out his reserves of energy. He was aware he'd probably become a burden if he couldn't make it on his own, and allowing him to stay in his house was already one big thing he needed to repay.
He listened as the rails gave a little squeal beyond all the human noise, and gave a step closer towards his chaperon as not to get lost in the chaos to ensue. OOC;

"I worry." Ariel said curtly, not even looking down at the boy, but paying attention to the crowd up ahead, as if he were charting an invisible course through the station. There weren't many people, especially at this time of night, but the few that were there were typically to be avoided at all costs.
As the doors open, the man broke into a fairly swift pace, one arm held slightly back if Lavi needed something to grab on to. A few people teetered precariously up, asking for money or cigarettes, to which Ariel would politely, but quickly, shake his head and continue walking. A few people gawked at Lavi's bags, eying them greedily, but upon sensing their intents, Ariel would give a sharp head turn with a fierce, predatory glare, causing them to back off. The man, despite his gentle name, was clearly not someone to mess with. All for the best though, Ariel disliked fighting over petty things, and never instigated, only defended. His intimidating appearance, tattoos and glare, were usually enough to cause people to back off.
It was Lavi, however, in all his youthful spirit, appearance, and bags of goodies that was drawing attention, but thanks to Ariel's swift pace, they made it out of the station in no time and were back above ground.
* * *
The tiger man remained incredibly silent on the walk, but constantly looked back to see if Lavi was keeping pace with him, or if he seemed tired. If so, he'd slow his walk a bit, to let the kid catch his breath, especially with all the luggage. After the first block, he offered his hand again, to help carry some of the baggage the boy had brought along. "Let me help you." For true, it came out more than a demand or an order rather than an offer to help, but Ariel sincerely meant it as the latter; he just wasn't quite used to talking to people anymore.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi, despite being tired enough to drop dead on his feet, kept close on the man's heels, appreciative of his actions. To keep his presence known, he'd bump his arm to Ariel's, to assure he was still trailing obediently. In all honesty he figured all these people were good people - his morning was met with no misfortune, just a bit crowded. He held a bit of displeasure for the rudeness, but followed none the less.
When they broke above ground his displeasure dissipated instantly, drinking in the fresh air that contrasted with stale breaths he had to take on the ride and in the compacted station. The brunette had stopped hopping along now, but maintained a fair stride. He was mid-yawn when the man's hand returned.
"M'mmm," he glanced down at the swollen bag, mentally going through all it's contents, contemplating deeply. Flicking his gray eyes back up, Lavi realized he most likely wouldn't have little choice from his stance and tone, and he was gone dog tired, anyways. "Sure, just be nice with it~" he informed with a smile, lifting it over his head and into his companion's hands. OOC; Blah.

Ariel carefully hefted the bag up over his shoulders, adjusting his own shoulder backpack to be more comfortable, then continued on at his pace. They soon found themselves at the steps to a decent looking, five story apartment building. He unlocked the main entrance door with his key, ushering Lavi in before him, before letting it close shut behind him. "Locks automatically." he explained in a mutter. Then began the grueling climb up three flights of stairs to the fourth floor, where Ariel resided. "Try to keep up." Ariel, despite the two backpacks, gracefully, and somehow almost silently, ascended the creaky steps up to the landing of the second floor. "C'mon."
He'd continue in the fashion, waiting for Lavi at each landing, but no sign of impatience crossed his face. Finally, on the 4th floor, at room 408, he opened the door, revealing his apartment.
Directly in front of them was a coathanger with one or two coats on them, and to the left, along the wall was a sort of kitchen. There was a fridge, some counterspace, some cabinets, and a dishwasher and sink, and a pantry...and by the looks of it, most of them looked nice and stocked. However, the main room adjacent to the kitchen wall was devoid of furniture. There as no TV, no shelf or anything. It was just an open room, with a window. There was a milk crate turned upside down next to the window, and an ashtray on the windowsill, but other than that, there was hardly any decor on the walls. The main room wasn't even lit by a main light, but rather a set of white christmas lights around a large mirror, which cast a very warm, soft glow into the room. An overhead fan twirled lazily, gently stirring the air. Another tiny hallway presented itself, leading to a bathroom with a sink and shower, (lit by a nice lighting fixture), and two bedrooms, the smaller one obviously inhabited, the other larger one empty.
The small bedroom was completely devoid of anything. There was a window, and that was it. The other bedroom had a box spring and a mattress on the floor, all neatly prepared for the nighttime rest, and a shelf made of cinderblocks and planks of wood. The top half was filled with books, and it seemed to be expanding towards the ground. There was no discernible closet space; instead Ariel appeared to use the high ceiling and strange piping to hang his clothes from.
"Make yourself at home. You can sleep in my bed if you need it. I'll sleep on the floor." He cast a sad glance around his apartment. "Sorry...it's not much." He sounded almost disappointed that he hadn't furnished his apartment after a few months of living there.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi was tempted to tease the man for showing off, being burly and carrying the weight as if it had no impact at all on him. Caught between being purely amused, like he was with all things, and sheer awe, he only could come to settling for a soft giggle as the man chided for him to keep up with him. His feet fought with him slightly, and using the railing as guidance he followed, bowing his head slightly to keep his tired face hidden.
When they stopped, he looked out from behind his hair, trying to act as uninterested as possible, even though he'd be wiggling in his spot if he had the energy to. The brunette lifted his head again as he stepped in, instantly toeing off his shoes and leaving them neatly deposited under the coats that hung.
"Thank you," he expressed softly, bowing slightly with a small smile. Lavi inspected the apartment from where he stood for a moment, shaking his head as Ariel apologized for such a silly thing. "Please don't~!" The teenager rolled onto his tip toes, poking the man in the shoulder with a last bit of gusto, "As long as there's no spiders in the vincinty, it'll do for me!"
Fueled now on pure mischievousness, the mink boy walked on his toes as he entered the kitchen. All though plain, he smiled widely, giving a little twirl as he gestured for the sink. "Do you have a large dish towel or something you could spare?" he asked innocently, tapping a hand to the faucet. OOC; And here comes the second wind before the crash.

Ariel reached into the 'pantry' and procured a sizable dish towel, gently lobbing it over in Lavi's direction. He gently put the lad's backpack and his own against the wall where the coats hung. Inspecting his home, he still felt a hint of sadness that his apartment was not more...home-y...
"No, no spiders as far as I know. I keep it clean." He moved over to the window, propping it open before procuring a cigarette pack and a lighter. Lighting a cigarette, he let out a long, slow exhale out the window. "Do what you need to do, then I'm gonna take a shower." His gaze remained fixed out the window, to the street below.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- He caught it with one hand, pulling it close to his face as if the softest thing in the world. "Thank you," Lavi cooed, watching as he moved about the house. He'd almost forgotten about his bloated bag between walking in and now, and he sauntered back over, flipping the top open with his free hand, towel clutched to his chest. The brunette yawned as the pulled out a small draw string bag, clunky with it's contents.
"Alright," he responded, drawing the bag open with a swift tug. It was his small assortment of traveling items, various shapes and sizes that easily were stashed into the bottom of the bag. The remaining portion was mostly clothes and rolled magazines, keeping it rectangular despite the amount already removed from it. "Was jus' gunna clean up myself...~" he trailed off, leaning against the sink as he postioned his bag carefully on the edge, the mouth gaping for the basin. The shifter's gray eyes tried not to hold the disappointment he felt in seeing his sort-of-companion smoke, but he continued on wordlessly, patting the corners of his bag.
Lavi squared his shoulders, hunching over the sink to observe it from below as he flicked a knob. From with in his bag he'd pulled out a round plastic circle, utterly fascinated as always as it suctioned over the drain, trapping the water in the basin. He reached back into his bag, sifting through the contents lazily as it filled. OOC;

Puff. Puff. Puff. Ariel listened to the sound of the wash basin filling up, wracking his brain for points of conversation. True, it was past 3 in the morning, so he figured he should probably just let the youth go to bed. He sat quietly, finishing his cigarette without saying a word before stubbing it out in the ashtray. He moved over to the fridge, procuring a bottle of water and setting it next to the mattress in his bedroom for the kid, in case he got thirsty.
He moved back to the milk crate and sat down again, staring out the window into the distant Manhattan skylights. From this distance, they still looked pretty.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Content, he began to take items one by one out of the bag, plopping various items into the water. A stained fork, a neon rubber ducky, a baby spoon... until he gave up with patience and poured the contents directly into the water. The items of a prolonged camping trip just floated about, and Lavi was also content with level of cleanliness they'd achieve this way. Whatever energy he had gained in his second wind had drained, and with droopy eyes be plucked through the remainder of his bag.
He'd left the towel beside the sink, having gusto before to dry but none now, so the brunette wandered back over, a pair of flannel pants in his hand. His other disturbed the water for a moment, causing the items to clank around inside the tub. He dried his fingers off on the towel with a lazy swipe, glancing over his shoulder as Ariel moved back to the window. Slowly, with hazy determination, Lavi flicked the top snap of his pants open, slowly parting the fabric as to not bring attention. Then, in a swift motion obviously practiced some other time, the mink boy switched from his shorts he'd been trucking along all day in, to his soft night time wear.
Half-way between remembering to be stealthily and completely forgetting, he moved back to his bag, tossing the dirty clothes across the top. The gray eyed boy toed off his socks with a little effort - hand drawn to the nearest solid object for stabilization, and then he was beside the master of the house, standing stiffly at his side.
This is why he hated being tired - he'd almost forgotten he'd even made the ninja move to change his pants, and was about to ask where the bathroom actually was before he remembered, causing him to create a mix of a vowel and whimper. Sleep deprived brain was okay with this, and he just hovred for a moment at the man's shoulder. OOC; Afraid to proof read cause then I'd giggle and give away my hiding spot. Sorry.

"You should probably get some sleep. It's really late." Ariel spoke plainly, not even looking over his shoulder. He stood, the thought once again occurring to him that this boy was incredibly trusting. What if he had been a murderer, or a rapist? The brunette kid would most certainly be dead; he didn't look like he'd be able to fend off a pillow or a marshmellow at this point. Naturally, this train of thought was accompanied by a fairly blank stare at the nearly comatose Lavi in front of him.
"I'm gonna shower, and I'll sleep on the floor here. If you sleep in your shifted form, I don't care, just try not to get fur or feathers or whatever on my bed." He moved to the bathroom. "If I look like I'm a tiger while I'm asleep, it's because I am." Ariel stopped for a moment, blinking at the odd assortment of things floating in his wash basin. He poked curiously at them, making the clanky noises as they bumped around their little bath. Slowly, he closed the bathroom door. Subsequently heard were the sounds of his clothes hitting the floor, and the shower curtains moving before the sound of running water filled the room.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi agreed, twitching his fingers against his thigh as he yawned as if to warn in a way he had no energy to cover his mouth. He watched Ariel move lazily, turning only slightly to be facing him when he talked.
"Eh?" he yelped, completely surprised when Ariel mentioned shifting. True, initially he'd suspected the man to be in the same boat, but he'd learned that was something you never were blunt about, a rather touchy subject with shifters alike. "... okay," he responded finally, smiling weakly as he disappeared. If he would sleep transformed, he mused, he wouldn't even need a bed, and the towel he'd ask for before would suffice fully.
Lavi pulled his hands to face, rubbing at his eyes and giving one last wayward glance out the window. He'd feel bad in the morning for evicting the man from his own bed, but he felt he wouldn't have a choice anyways, so slowly he trekked through the house, pushing the door open with a lazy hand. He observed with sleepy gray eyes for a moment, taking in the supply of books and thrown together bedroom furniture. The brunette already felt bad - obviously this man was trying to make due with what he had, and he felt cruel to take in the hospitality. He noticed the water sitting beside the bed too, remembering vaguely he'd moved it about before, and listening to the running shower, he made back to the living space.
The mink boy plucked the towel from the sink, bopping the rubber duck on the head as he passed, making his way back to the window. He folded the rag in half, seating in on the window sill beside the ash tray, patting it carefully once it met his standards. Lavi stretched a arm contently above his head, slowly losing height as he shifted away in his long, furry state.
Popping out from inside his pile of discarded clothes, the brown mink hopped to the milk crate, and then towered his way up to the window sill. He settled onto the rag, closing his eyes contently and falling asleep almost instantly in his patch of space. OOC;

Ariel emerged from the shower several long minutes later. He'd been relishing in his long, gentle warm shower. He felt the stench of the day and night simply rolling off of him in foamy jets of water. Before long, he left his little paradise, drying himself off languidly before returning to his clothes.
Upon exit of the shower, he noted the mink curled up on the windowsill, next to the ashtray.
Since really there was no one watching, and no one awake to catch it, Ariel allowed himself a gentle, almost tender smile. It had been a long time since anyone had seen that, and for whatever reason, Ariel was intent on keeping it that way. He walked over, picking up the ashtray and moving it to a corner of the room, away from the sleeping shifter and his belongings. Returning to his room, he retrieved the water bottle, and procured a little saucer dish from the pantry. He placed the water dish where the ashtray had originally resided, and placed the water bottle on the ground, next to the discarded clothes.
Lastly, he moved into the bedroom, laying himself down onto the bed. Still not entirely weary, he all the same closed his eyes, resting from his long day. A content smile crossed his soon-to-be-sleeping features. Perhaps he'd finally made a friend.

.MISTER LAVISH! ---- Lavi remained asleep, nose carefully hidden under tail, drenched in the weak lights that floated in from outside. If he'd actually awoken to catch the acts of kindness, he wasn't sure if he'd have said anything as the man seemed pleased with himself.
He nestled contently, body rising and falling with deep sleep from his long day of adventures. At this rate, he'd be sleeping in rather far into the morning if left on his own accord on the window sill. His foot gave a twitch and splayed claws, disrupting his perfect sleeping stance, a little be messy and random but that was just how he was.
