Chrysanthemum Moon Scot pushed past the hordes of people around her, feeling more and more claustrophobic by the second. She hated people in general, but this was ridiculous. She desperately needed out of this place.
Picking up her pace, she moved as quickly as possible to a place that she was sure no one would notice her shift - a dark, and should have been creepy, alley. She turned abruptly into the slight way, backing up far enough that she didn't see the people's faces anymore, and the sunlight was but a memory.
Sighing, she looked around herself carefully so as to not randomly shift in front of someone. She may not care about what people thought of her shifting abilities, but she was damned if she thought that they wouldn't kill her for doing it so that someone could have been seriously injured.
Chrysanthemum smiled as she looked up, the sky a small river of the palest blue above her. She closed her eyes momentarily to hear the loudness of the city around her. It was not going to be something that she was going to miss. The smell of the massive crowds either. Not wanting to waste anymore time, she almost shifted, when she heard someone coming down the alley.

It was a simply gorgeous day. Of course, Mary always thought it was gorgeous. Even the darkest of storms had their own charm that simply could not be ignored. Despite being lost in a crowd of busy, scurrying and olfactory offensive sheeple, she simply could not lose her smile. They all had their lives, though the lack of smiles did bother her a bit. Why couldn't everybody just learn to be happy and love life the way you're supposed too? While this thought did fester in her mind, she did not let it ruin her mood. How could she? Mary Cheskire was a grade-A optimist. Obviously people will be that way eventually. They just HAD too...
It was right about then that she noticed somebody who was most definitely not happy. In fact, they weren't looking very happy at all. The mysterious person turned sharply into an alleyway. This troubled Mary greatly. Anybody who felt bad enough to hide in a dirty, smelly alley was in dire need of some good old-fashioned happy. She was more than willing to help with that. They might not like it at first, but the overwhelming power of a positive attitude almost always changes their mind. Firmly believing that she will be thanked for her action, she made to follow the clearly female person. She didn't pause to think about any danger her actions might cause. She tried to keep things like that in mind, but sometimes it was hard.
While she made no real effort at stealth, she normally was fairly quiet on her feet. Not enough to sneak up on people, but enough so that people don't know exactly where she is at any given moment (much like her mother; can't walk quietly if offered an entire lottery winning). Any chance that her presence was not known was ruined though, when she ran into a garbage can. The metallic bin collapsed with its signature clatter, spilling refuse across the walkway. Eww. "Oops. I hope that doesn't make anybody upset" She said, almost with a giggle. For some reason she had thought of those cheesy horror movies where the victim turns around to find the somehow-silent eight foot monster right behind them. The very idea that she was some horrid beast amused her, possibly because some people thought of her that way. It came with her talents though. Turning into an animal at will could be considered disturbing.
After a brief moment, she continued along the alley. The noise she had made would probably cause the other person to pause, since loud sounds behind people had a tendency to attract attention. Instead of waiting to get the other person in sight, Mary took the initiative and called out to her. "Verzeihung! How are you feeling Miss Lady? I can't imagine another reason to be in such a strangely smelling place." Words: 488 Status: Complete Notes: Verzeihung means 'Excuse me' or a similar term. It's just to get somebody's attention. Oh, and if the font is too hard to read just tell me, I'm not entirely sure about it....

Chrysanthemum was instantly on edge as she heard footsteps following her into the ally, and then relaxed as the person ran into a garbage can. Sighing, she put away her knife that had found it's way into her hand a few seconds ago, and followed to where the noise came from.
Seeing a young woman, she paused, wondering what had driven the woman to come after her. I surely couldn't be over concern for her health, despite her asking after it. Danke. Ich...eh.. guten? she said, it becoming a question as her German failed her. Walking up to the girl, she stood in front of her, looking her straight in the face. "Why did you follow me?" she said, her voice sounding harsh and unforgiving if she didn't like the answer. "Don't lie to me, girl. I'm not exactly in the mood to deal with you humans," Chrysanthemum was moody from all the humans pressed around her, suffocating her almost with their stench and what not. right now, she just wanted to get away, no matter the cost. No one would notice another girl beaten and robbed, though the lack of rape would be odd, but not missed. It would just be another murder in a city of crime.
Words* 217 , Status* COMPLETE Notes* sorry for the wait. been just a bit busy. and, don't worry. She's not going to kill her.

After a moment the person she had followed came back to the sound she had made. Despite her attempt at being nice and her obvious lack of weapons, the female still seemed really pissed. So very strange of her. "I believe you meant to say Danke, mir ist Gut ma'am. Besides, you're just as human as I am, if not more. Some of us simply have a bit more....control over ourselves. I'm sure you've seen the one's who can shift" She was unperturbed by the apparent threat hanging in the air. It was almost assured that she would be able to talk her way onto this girl's good side (if she had one). That's just the way things worked for her. It always has and probably would remain that way. "And besides, I followed you because I was worried you might be sick or something. I can get you to ein Doktor if you need one" Her bright emerald eyes gleamed softly, and she smiled in a friendly way. She really did not feel like getting killed, but that wasn't going to make her leave. She'd help this person if it took all freaking year.

Chrysanthemum just turned and walked away before her very angry bird set itself free. She really didn't want to hurt the girl. She ran, getting a good distance between them before her bird erupted out of its cage and overtook her. She soared up, landing on the roof, feeling the sun's heat on her wings as she watched the girl chase after her.
She cawed and dived down, curious at the girls reaction to a huge bird of prey staring her straight in the face, it's eyes large and unblinking as it studied her. She preened, waiting for the girl to either reveal what she was, or to run screaming. No one in their right mind would believe a girl who was saying that a giant, extinct bird was staring her down in a dark ally.

The other girls reaction was quite unexpected to say the least. In fact, it was really random. Mary followed carefully but quickly, curious as to where she was going. It wasn't long before the other person became a large bird and landed on a rooftop. This was clearly an attempt to frighten her off....or eat her. Either way it wouldn't work. She stared right back into the birds eyes, then slowly and obviously shifted into a fishing cat. She did it in such a way that there would be no mistaking what she was doing as soon as she started, and you could almost watch the fur grow. Where a petite young girl stood there was now a far smaller feline, with the most random of patches on its coat. She did not move from her position, only sat down and stared. She would wait for the other to make the next move. It was important for her to understand that violence was pointless here. Maybe then they could be friends. If not there was always running. Mary really didn't feel like dying today. Death probably would not be a good thing.

Chrysanthemum smiled her birdy smile and settled her feathers. Situating herself so she could look straight into the fishing cat's eyes, she nodded and changed back.
"Nice to see someone not afraid of my bird side," she said when she was human enough to talk. After changing, she yawned and stretched, the few feathers still there, shrinking back. "Oh, and I was just about to leave, but I might not, if you're willing to hang out where there's not so many people around..." she let the sentence hang there, trailing off into an almost question. She knew this girl was curious, and she wanted to know just how far she would go.

The encounter finally took a positive turn. Purring contently, Mary also shifted back into her human form. "Indeed. I can see that being quite intimidating" She laughed a bit, the sound retaining the purr from her cat form to give it a strange rumbling flow. Though she was human again, she remained sitting; she was quite comfortable where she was at that moment in time. The question.... perturbed her, if you will. The offering of companionship was much evident. This person was offering a chance to talk and hang out and all that jazz. However, that final bit was worrisome. Many things can happen if you aren't around others. Many bad things. She thought for only a few moments though. "Sure. I don't see why not Frauen Vögel" After all, she can take care of herself. Chrysanthemum smiled a genuine smile and picked up a feather off the ground. It was quite large and a dull brownish color. Still smiling, she hands it to the girl in front of her. "My name is Chrysanthemum Moon Scott. May I ask what yours is?" she said as she wiggled the feather under the girl's nose.
A sudden crash from behind her causes her to find her knife in her hand and her body in front of and protective of the girl. Whatever the thing was, would have to go through her. She waited patiently until a small tabby kitten comes into sight.
Putting her knife away, she simply stares at the beast. Cats generally didn't like her at all -- most animals didn't. The kitten even hissed at her, and she didn't even move a muscle. "Stupid cats. I hate them" she thought, not wanting to offend the girl that was a fishing cat.
Sighing, she simply turned and started walking, her heavy boots not making much noise, but enough to follow should she get too far ahead of the girl.

She smiled softly, taking the feather and sniffing and twirling it lazily. "I am Mary Cheskire. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." This was going along quite well. Mary stood up and smiled a bit more, pulling a small amount of hair over her shoulder and wrapping it around the feather. She wasn't nervous though, she was just getting fairly hyper for some strange reason. Probably because she was making friends. Before they could start moving, a loud clatter dropped the bird-girl Chrysanthemum... into a defensive crouch. Mary did not drop down, though she did jump back a bit from the noise. After a brief pause..............a cat came into view. Mary chuckled softly, following behind the other girl. "So where are we going anyway? Is it out in the woods?" She sounded excited, mostly because she was. She did so love the woods after all. She continued absently twisting hair around the feather, unwrapping it every now and again to start over. Chrysanthemum looked down at the girl, what's she say her name was? Mary? Margret? Shaking her head, Chrysanthemum looked ahead and shrugged. "I guess, if that's what's beyond the city from here," she said absent-mindedly. She was busy trying to contain the bird that wanted to rip the little kitty beside her to pieces.
Suddenly stopping halfway down the ally, she felt herself become covered in feathers, yelling at the girl to run while she still had the power of speech as her bird erupted out of its cage and took over, looking around to find the girl as it completed the change. Screeching loudly, it flapped its wings and took to the air, looking down to find the girl. As she spotted it, she dive-bombs, hoping to catch it off guard.

Mary kept smiling, looking around randomly. Her new acquaintance seemed a bit preoccupied by something, which was strange since she had been fine just minutes before. Maybe it was a mental thing, just a strange thought she was following through with to see an outcome.
Unfortunately, she was wrong.
Crying out, Mary leaped away as the girl next to her exploded into feathers. The huge bird went up, crying out before dropping down and trying to catch Mary. With adrenaline surging through her system, the petite girl ran, already half cat. Hatred bloomed off of the bird in chemical streamers, detectable by the fishing cat's sharp nose. Apparently Chrysanthemum wasn't a very nice person, or had very little control over herself. Instead of continuing out onto the street, she ducked into a small crevasse in a wall, only to drop down a few feet into somebodies basement. She had found an open window. Silently she backed into the darkness, watching. [/font]

The bird that was Chrysanthemum screeched in frustration and used its talons and beak to try to get into the crack that the kitty had slipped through. Meanwhile, Chrysanthemum forced the bird back and into submission, taking back control and almost instantaneously shifting back, curling up against the wall on the far side of the alley, trying to figure out what had happened. She couldn't believe what had happened. Her bird had taken over. Without her permission. Without her even knowing until it was way past being able to contain it. How? She knew why and she also knew that traveling with Mary was going to be both painful and dangerous, for both of them.

OOC: tired of annoying BB coding for font.
It didn't take long for the bird to start clawing at the wall, trying to break through. Shortly after though, it stopped. Completely. Her ears picked up the sound of breathing. Human breathing. Slowly she shifted back and peaked out the window. "Uhh.....what was that?" She asked, curious as to how her new friend would explain that random attack. Understandably it would be difficult to hang out if this kept happening. It was just another roadblock though, something that can be overcome with patients.
