Name: Lariss leBlaise (sometimes called Lars teasingly, though he dislikes the nickname.)
Gender: Male
Age: Sixteen
View: Hidden
Species: Snow Leopard
Description: Lariss stands at five feet, eight inches (about 1.72 metres), about two inches shorter than average males in his tenth year. The boy attempts to make up for this with the skate shoes he often wears.
His hair is a platinum blond, appearing white when seen at the right angle, and adding to its unusual nature is its strange length - hanging down to about the small of Lariss's back, it is more often than not tied in a braid and partially obscured with a beanie or baseball cap.
Somewhat of an introvert, he is never seen without his slim black iPod -lovingly nicknamed Tater, though few know this - and white earbuds. His skin is pale, sharply contrasting the spare bit of mascara he wears. Beneath his lashes he possesses mismatched emerald and sapphire eyes, the left being the greener.
His high metabolism robs him of any mass that could be mistaken for muscle, leaving him looking quite frail in comparison to the number of rugby jocks in his year. He disguises this by frequently donning mixes of light jackets, print tee-shirts and colored skinny jeans. Lariss favors brightly colored Converse and select Vans shoes.
In a chill, he'll sometimes clamp a pair of snowy white, black-freckled earmuffs on above his earbuds. He usually stashes these in his messenger bag when not in use, or sometimes in his coat pocket. He is never more than six feet away from them at any time - the earmuffs, or his leather-bound sketchbook. This large tome contains every purposeful or good drawing Lariss has ever done; the majority are pencilled, but a few are charcoal (sprayed to avoid marking other pages) or illustrated with colored pencil.
In his animal state of being, leBlaise has only a few features distinguishing him from usual snow leopards. His ivory fur holds more of a bluish tint than the usual yellow/gray undertones. He also retains his mismatched eyes, and bears an extra black stripe across his muzzle.
Lariss holds a preference for the times that are neither night or day, being of a crepuscular nature that carries between his breeds.
Personality: Lariss is not the slightest the 'strong and silent' type, as his penchant for eating his words stems mostly from both the unappreciated nature of his comments and their tendency to get him beat up.
His humor is somewhat sarcastic, but the worst of his poison is reserved for those who parade themselves above others. Employing biting words and an uncaring demeanor, his major weakness is those with higher muscle tone - he has earned many a bruise for unwanted opinions about exalted and self-absorbed jocks. Though when one decides to take him seriously - which nobody ever has, mind you - he does warm up to them rather quickly.
leBlaise is of a type that would sit and watch the world burn, as there is nothing he cares about greater than his prized sketchbook.
Secretly, he would like to envision himself as a superhero. Seeing people suffering pains him, as he ended up moderately well-off for an orphan, and he could have just as easily been passed over all his life. This thought haunts him.
His fears are two things: large bodies of water, and someone discovering his ability. Lariss aspires to become a comic-book artist.
History: leBlaise (formerly Lauchlan Sinclair) knows nothing of his parents other than their names, Adair and Finn Sinclair. Orphaned at ten months, their house burnt to the ground in what was eventually ruled an accidental fire while Lariss (then Lauchlan) was with a family friend. He has no other family to speak of, and grew up with adoptive parents. Gage and Eloise leBlaise were at the time newlyweds, and opted to rename Lauchlan in an effort to distance him from tragedy he wouldn't remember, but others might connect to him.
At the age of seven, Lariss moved with his family from Brive-la-Gaillard, France to London, England.
He discovered his status as a Shifter on accident while visiting adoptive relatives in Ireland. leBlaise had been exploring a wooded area near his aunt's house for a place to lie down and sketch at the age of thirteen.
His family thought nothing of it - the boy frequently wandered off and returned unharmed. The strange, fearful light in his eyes was passed off as glint from simply being outdoors in the chill - though his adopted father got him the earmuffs - remarkably resembling the snow leopard pattern - a month later for Christmas. Coincidence? Lariss still wonders.
Weapons and Equipment: Though Lariss often picks fights (or has fights started with him, rather) on campus, he doesn't carry a weapon as school rules decree. However, he nearly always has a pen or pencil on his person. He has an unremarkable silver cellphone that holds next-to-no contacts, and a wallet with his ID and no less than twenty dollars at a time.
